Author Guide

Welcome! This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about managing your books and author profile on the website. No technical knowledge is required—just log in to your WordPress dashboard and follow these simple steps!


1. How to Edit Your Author Profile

Your author profile is where readers will learn more about you, find your social media links, and sign up for your newsletter.

Steps to Edit:

  1. Log in to the WordPress Dashboard.
  2. On the left-hand menu, click on Authors.
  3. Find your name in the list and click Edit.
  4. Scroll down to the Author Profile & Links section to update your details:
    • Author Bio: Write a short and sweet bio.
    • Author Image URL: Click “Upload” to select or upload a profile picture.
    • Social Links / Website: Click “Add Link” to add your Facebook, TikTok, Website, or Instagram links. Just type the name (e.g., “TikTok”) and paste the full URL (e.g., “https://tiktok.com/@yourname“).
    • Newsletter Embed Code: If you use MailerLite, Mailchimp, or another mailing list provider, copy your “HTML Form Embed Code” and paste it into this box. It will automatically show up at the bottom of all your books!
  5. When you’re done, scroll to the top right of the page and click the blue Update button.

2. How to Edit an Existing Book

If you need to update a blurb, add new tropes, or add a new retailer link to a book that is already on the website:

Steps to Edit:

  1. On the left-hand menu, click on Books.
  2. Find the book you want to update and click Edit.
  3. To edit the Blurb: Use the large text editor right under the book’s title.
  4. To add/edit a Cover Image: Look at the bottom right column for the Featured Image box. Click it to upload or replace your book cover.
  5. Scroll down to the Book Media & Formats section. Here you can add all the juicy details:
    • Tropes: Type in your tropes separated by commas (e.g., Fated Mates, Enemies to Lovers, Touch her and die).
    • Tagline: A short, catchy, one-sentence hook for the book.
    • ISBN, Pages, Heat Level, Warnings: Fill these in if you have them! (For Heat Level, just type a number like “3” or “4” and it will automatically show the pepper icons 🌶️).
  6. To add Goodreads or BookBub links: Scroll down to the Community & Review Links section. Click “Add Link”, type the name (e.g., “Goodreads”), and paste the URL.
  7. To add Retailer Purchase Links: Scroll to the Formats & Retailers section. You can add “Ebook” or “Paperback”, and then add the specific links for Amazon, Apple, Kobo, etc., inside that format.
  8. When you are finished, click the blue Update button in the top right corner.

TIP

Always remember to click Update to save your changes! If you navigate away without clicking it, your changes will be lost.


3. How to Add a Brand New Book

Ready to announce a new release? Adding a new book is incredibly easy!

Steps to Add:

  1. On the left-hand menu, click on Books and then click Add New at the very top.
  2. Enter your Book Title in the top field.
  3. Paste your Blurb into the large text editor directly below the title.
  4. Look at the column on the Right Side of the screen:
    • Series: Check the box next to your series name.
    • Season: Check the box for the correct Season.
    • Featured Image: Click “Set featured image” to upload your beautiful book cover.
  5. Scroll down to the main Book Media & Formats section and fill out your metadata:
    • Add your Tropes (comma-separated).
    • Add your Tagline.
    • Check the box next to your name under Linked Authors.
    • Set your Status (e.g., Pre-order, Available, Coming Soon).
  6. Scroll down to Formats & Retailers to add your retailer links.
  7. When everything looks perfect, click the big blue Publish button in the top right corner!

IMPORTANT

Make sure you select yourself under the Linked Authors checklist! This is how the website knows the book belongs to you and should appear on your author profile page.
